TULIP TIME in BOWRAL

25th September to 8th October 2008

SHINES LIGHT AND COLOUR ON DEPRESSION Atulip-time-web.gifND MENTAL ILLNESS

Tulip Time is one of Australia’s oldest and most famous flora festivals. The Southern Highlands is bursting with fragrance and colour, buzzing with activity during Tulip Time; the most beautiful time to visit the Southern Highlands.  Corbett Gardens has a visual extravaganza of tulips and annuals that take over 12 months to plan and prepare for your enjoyment throughout the festival.

The Southern Highlands is home to some of Australia’s best private gardens that are opened for your enjoyment throughout Tulip Time.

This year we are privileged to have Maggie Tabberer, media personality and local Southern Highlands’ resident as our Tulip Time 2008 Ambassador.

tulip-time-2.gifTulip Time supports various charities each year, this year Tulip Time is supporting depression and mental illness as its key theme and has partnered with the Black Dog Institute to promote its cause. The Black Dog institute takes its name from Winston Churchill’s reference to his own melancholic depression which he termed his ‘black dog’.  Don’t miss the two spectacular themed gardens in Corbett Gardens, not in paint but in masses of tulips depicting this year’s theme.

Tulip Time has many exciting events planned this year for your enjoyment, such as:

Tulip Time Free Breakfast In The Park, The Tulip Time Food and Wine Festival,

The Tulip Time Street Parade, Tulip Time Specialist Garden Show and more..

Are You Going to Scarborough Fair?
scarborough-fair-web2gif.gif Overlooking the Pacific on a cliff along the Illawarra escarpment
is the grooviest little art show of them all.
The Scarborough Public School Art and Craft Fair
is in its tenth anniversary year and still going from strength to strength.
Every October the tiny Scarborough
community around this northern Illawarra village stages this boutique event,
showcasing quality art work from the region and beyond.
Artists, including some Archibald and Wynne
nominees, love the show, because they make good sales.
Visitors love it because of the chance to pick up a quality
bargain and stock up for Christmas presents.
The show's policy is to present work of high
standard - nothing mass-produced, all hand-crafted.
Saturday and Sunday, October 11 and 12,

fishers-ghost-web.gifHave you seen paranormal activity? Heard things go bump in the night or seen any ghostly apparitions? Then it’s probably Campbelltown’s most famous supernatural resident - Fisher’s Ghost, getting ready to celebrate the annual Festival of Fisher’s Ghost.

This year marks the 52nd festival, that will this year be held from 30 October to 9 November.

Festival highlights that residents have come to know and love will be on again, including the carnival at Bradbury Oval, the Fisher’s Ghost Art Award, the Street Fair, the Art and Craft Exhibition, the Saturday night jukebox concert, a Ghost Tour and the Historical Coach Tour.

The festival’s program will also include events that encourage community involvement and participation, including the famous Street Parade, the Stamp Fair and the Miss Princess Quest, just to name a few.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Aaron Rule, said the Festival of Fisher’s Ghost was the biggest community celebration on Council’s calendar and encouraged everyone to take part in the fun.

"The Festival of Fisher's Ghost is uniquely Campbelltown’s and is an event that offers something for everyone," Cr Rule said.

The event will also feature two spectacular fireworks displays that will be held at the carnival at Bradbury Oval on 1 and 8 November.
